the pencil tin

the pencil tin

Our studio name and visual identity are in response to a number of things. There’s the simple fact that the studio (just like the rest of our home) is clad in grey ‘custom-orb’ corrugate, which has an obvious visual link to the material and form of a good old tin can plus, as we state elsewhere, we’re both more than a little fond of the undiminished value of the ‘pencil and paper’ approach to idea generation and exploration, and even completion. Also, what we particularly like about a classic pencil tin is that it would have to be one of the most sublimely useful things that any desk can house and is perhaps one of the best and most enduring examples of ‘up-cycling’ that we’ve yet seen.
